  16. Important information on use with Windows 95:
  17. =============================================

  19. miroCRYSTAL 3D/TV, miroVIDEO 22SD/TV is a highly integrated state-of-the-art graphics adapter .
  20. This product offers its full functionality in combination with
  21. Microsofts "DirectDraw".
  22. Because this not supplied with Windows 95, you should first install "DirectX" on your 
  23. computer.

  25. During the driver installation "DirectX" is installed.

  28. Hints when your TV set is connected to your graphics board
  29. ==========================================================
  30.  
  31. 1.)     "VGA2TV" always has to be entered in the Autoexec.bat file and 
  32.         always has to be started.
  33.  
  34. 2.)     Standard Windows95 S3 drivers can only be used in the 
  35.         640x480x8 (256 colors) resolution.
  36.  
  37. 3.)     If you reinstalled your graphics board, the computer has to be
  38.         rebooted (switched off and on again).
  39.  
  40. 4.)     Error messages which will appear in the so-called Windows95 "BLUE SCREEN", 
  41.         will not be displayed completely.
  42.  
  43. 5.)     Because not all VGA video modes can be displayed on a TV set,
  44.         they have not been implemented in the BIOS.
  45.         With the games currently available there will be no (known) problems.

  47. 6.)     The SCART connector of your TV set has to be compatible with DIN 50049.

  53. Installing miro graphics drivers and miroWINTOOLS for Windows 95:
  54. =================================================================

  58. Note:      You can install the miro Windows 95 drivers by using the setup 
  59.            program included on the supplied CD or using "Display Properties"
  60.            in the Windows Control Panel.       
  61.  
  62. These miro Windows 95 drivers can only be used for the miroCRYSTAL 3D/TV, miroVIDEO 22SD/TV
  63. graphics board in the single-screen mode.
  64.      
  65. In general, dual-screen modes (Twinface) are not supported!!!

  70. Installing miro drivers and miroWINTOOLS:
  71. =========================================
  72.  
  73. You can install the miro Windows95 drivers easily using the SETUP program
  74. contained on the CD. Please start Windows 95 and insert the miro CD. 
  75. The SETUP program starts automatically and offers you all components you
  76. can install.
  77.  
  78. The miro drivers and miroWINTOOLS will be copied. Then the "Display
  79. Properties" window opens automatically with the "Settings" tab on top.
  80. In the "Settings" tab, click the "Change display settings" button. Use
  81. the following menu to select the graphics board and the monitor connected
  82. to it. When clicking the "Change" button which is located in the line where
  83. also the name of the installed driver appears another menu opens where you
  84. can select "miroCRYSTAL 3D/TV, miroVIDEO 22SD/TV".

  86. Click "apply" to confirm your choice. For your settings to take effect, restart
  87. the computer. After restarting the computer you can change the resolution and 
  88. the number of colors using the Control Panel.

  92. To install the miro Windows95 drivers, start Windows 95 and
  93. open the "Display" icon in the Control Panel. In the "Settings" tab click the 
  94. "Change Display Type" button. Use the following menu to select the graphics 
  95. board and the monitor connected to it. By clicking the "Change" button which 
  96. is located in the line where also the name of the installed driver appears
  97. another menu opens. Here you can open the "Disk..." item. Insert the CD 
  98. including the miro Windows95 drivers into your disk drive and click 
  99. "Browse" to select your CD-ROM drive. Change to the "DISKSETS\WIN95" directory
  100. and click "OK" to confirm.

  102. You can now select the "miroCRYSTAL 3D/TV, miroVIDEO 22SD/TV" board.

  104. Then, click "Apply" to confirm your choice. For your settings to take effect,
  105. restart the computer. After restarting the computer you can change the
  106. resolution and the number of colors using the Control Panel.

  109. Important hints for the installation:
  110. =====================================

  112. Note:    With earlier Windows95 considerable problems may occur with the 
  113.          hardware detection when reinstalling Windows 95.
  114.          To solve this problem, disable the automatical hardware detection
  115.          in the "Hardware Wizard" and select "Standard graphics adapter (VGA)"
  116.          as "Hardware type" and "Graphics board" (see also 4.). 
  117.          In later Windows95 versions this problem does not occur.

  121. 1.) If you use a miro monitor or a multifrequency monitor,
  122.     we recommend you to use the Monitor.inf file provided on this installation
  123.     CD. Using the Monitor.inf file ensures that you use specially suited 
  124.     monitor parameters. In the "Display Properties Window", select 
  125.     "Change Display Type". Click "Change" to go to the monitor selection
  126.     window.

  128.     Click the "Have Disk" button and "Browse" to go to a file selection
  129.     window. 
  130.     
  131.     Select the installation CD to change to the installation directory
  132.     for miroCRYSTAL 3D/TV, miroVIDEO 22SD/TV. The mirodisp.inf and miromon.inf files are
  133.     automatically entered. Click "OK" to go the miroMONITOR selection list. 
  134.     Select your monitor. 
  135.  
  136.     Hint:    Please do not try to boost your monitor performance by selecting
  137.              values which exceed the monitors characteristics. In doing so,
  138.              you will damage your monitor. miro does not take on liability 
  139.              in such cases.                                     
  140.  
  141.     Please make sure that your Win95\INF directory does not include old 
  142.     OEM*.INF monitor files. This INF subdirectory cannot be listed by 
  143.     typing the DIR command but by typing DIR /a. These INF files are ASCII
  144.     files which you can view using any editor. Before removing such files
  145.     make sure that you do not delete the wrong files. If you use the miro
  146.     monitor files from the original Windows 95 CD, please use the monitor 
  147.     files from this installation CD.
  148.

  150. 2.) Each time you install graphics drivers Windows creates a new
  151.     OEM*.INF file in the Win95\INF subdirectory. Windows 95 does not remove,
  152.     however, the old OEM*.INF files. Please make sure that only the current
  153.     OEM*.INF files are contained in this directory and remove the old files.
  154.     In doing so, you can avoid many problems.

  157. 3.) With the current Windows 95 version it may happen that  Windows 95 starts
  158.     with  an error message (only 16 colors are offered) after installing
  159.     miroCRYSTAL 3D/TV. In this case, Windows 95 does not recognize the
  160.     S3 Virge processor.
  161.     After installing the miro software this will not happen again.
  162.     
  163.     If it is however not possible to set the resolution and the number of
  164.     colors correctly, you may use the miroTool kill3d.exe.
  165.     This tool resets your computer to the state it was in before the 
  166.     installation of the graphics hardware. After restarting Windows you can
  167.     install your graphics hardware as described above.
  168.  
  169.     Please only use the kill3d.exe program if it is absolutely necessary. 
  170.     It is no substitute for the standard deinstall program which is located
  171.     in the miroCRYSTAL 3D/TV program group.

  174. 4.) If you have to update the drivers or to reinstall the software, remove the
  175.     old miro software using the deinstall program. Before deinstalling all
  176.     system files close the miroPINBOARD.

  181. LIMITATIONS
  182. ==========================================================================
  183. In general, this graphics board does not support dual-screen configurations 
  184. (Twinface) together with other graphics boards!!!

  188. miroSCREEN      Do not use this tool with fixed-frequency monitors. Do not
  189. Adjust          adjust image sizes and positions which deviate too much from
  190.                 the default settings.
  191.                 You cannot use miroSCREEN ADJUST together with MPEG or TV
  192.                 output.
  193.                 While miroSCREEN Adjust is enabled, avoid changing the
  194.                 resolution with miroPINBOARD or Windows95.
  195.                 It is not possible to change the image size with miroSCREEN
  196.                 Adjust under VGA2TV. You can, however, adapt the image size
  197.                 to your TV set.
  198.                 Extreme image positions result in distortions. Only use 
  199.                 miroSCREEN Adjust in the TV mode if your TV image is not
  200.                 centered correctly.   
  201.  
  202. DirectX         You will be notified by a DirectX application that the used
  203.                 driver has not been tested with DirectX.
  204.                 When you are requested if you want to replace the driver by
  205.                 a tested one, please answer NO.
  206.                 After having installed games under Windows 95, check if the
  207.                 miro driver  is still active after restarting the system.    
  208.                 If not, enable or install the driver again.

  211. Other limitations
  212. =========================================================================
  213.  
  214. miro Computer Products AG always endeavors to support a wide range of 
  215. languages. Because not all manufacturers share this opinion, the "ActiveMovie"
  216. Player and "DirectX" is only supplied in English.
